Manchester United came from 0-2 down to beat Newcastle 3-2 at Old Trafford to possibly save Jose Mourinho job for another week. Real Madrid lost away to Alaves 1-0 after a late winner by Manu Garcia. Bayern were embarrassed at home 0-3 by Borussia Monchengladbach in an unconvincing performance.
Manchester United Vs Newcastle:
Newcastle stunned United in the opening 10 minutes, with goals from Kenedy and Muto. United were unconvincing in the first half but had chances to get back into the game but they failed to convert their chances. The 2nd half saw a completely different United, they dominated and pushed Benitez men back, a Mata free-kick at the 70th minute gave United hope then Martial scored the equalizer 6 minutes later. The game looked to end at a draw with United still pushing but a Sanchez header at the death gave United the needed win and all 3 points as they enter into the international break this week with a win.
Alaves Vs Real Madrid:
Alaves stunned Real Madrid at the death as they defeated Lopetegui’s men with an header from Manu Garcia. Real Madrid had numerous chances during the game but Alaves were resilient in defense and held their grounds. Madrid kept the possession nicely but they could not find the back of the net. Real Madrid have now lost 3 games in their last 4 matches and they are yet to score a goal in those four matches. Lopetegui will use this international break to plan the revival of Madrid if he will still be the manager come next match day.
Bayern Munich Vs Monchengladbach:
Bayern are winless in their last four matches also. They lost scandalously 0-3 to Monchengladbach at home. Goals from Plea and Stindl in the first half stunned Munich, Bayern responded well but were not just convincing till Herrmann scored the 3rd goal at the 88th minute to sink Bayern. Bayern are now 5th on the table, four points from table toppers Dortmund after 7 games.
In other top results, Dortmund rallied to beat Augsburg 4-3 with an hat trick from Paco Alcacer (Barcelona loanee) to secure their 3 points. Juventus defeated Udinese 0-2 with goals from Bentancur and Ronaldo to stay on top and keep their 100% record in the league.
